Lizzy looked down at the bottle lying beside her bed. She sat down and examined it from all angles.
Should she do this?
Her dear Ciel was gone forever; she had seen him lying in his coffin, so stiff, so white.
It was her fault. Maybe if she had gone with him to Paris, she would of been with him when he died, perhaps even prevented it.
There had been a gunshot wound through is chest. Sebastian had tried to hide it, but Lizzy had seen it. Who had done it? Who would want to kill her darling, dead Ciel?
She picked up the small bottle. It was labeled 'Arsenic; Do not drink'
She would never see her Ciel again, except in her dreams. Perhaps her mother would find her a new finance, but Ciel was her love. She longed to see him smile again, or smirk when her attempts to make him smile struck him as funny. She remembered when he had almost hit her. Did she really want to see him again? But then she recalled the rest of the story, him wiping away her tears, and dancing the night away.
Brother would be so angry if she did it. If she committed... suicide. There, she admitted it. That's what she was considering. Suicide. Dare she?
She fingered the bottle. The glass was thick, and she could not see the inside clearly.
She got dressed in her cutest clothes, a pink dress with lots of frills.
Then she wrote her suicide note. She admitted she was just prolonging the invetable, but invetable was what it was. She would never see Ciel again. She could not live with that the rest of her life.
Dear Mother, Father, Brother, and Paula,
Paula will probably be the one to find me. I'm sorry Paula. I hope this will not dimish your cheerful manner. It always made me happy, even when I did not show it.
Mother, I am sorry if I disappointed you as a strong young woman. For loving one man, too much. For not staying strong at the funeral, or after it. I love you.
Father, thank you. Thank you for understanding me. For always being a shoulder to cry on. When Ciel came back, as if from the dead, (but her I am disillusioning myself, for the dead don't truly ever live again) you explained to me what had happened to him. Even if Ciel never knew I knew, it made me feel that much closer to him.
Brother, dear Brother. I love you so much. You always wanted to escort me to dances, and were always angry at Ciel for taking your cute little sister away from you. Don't think I didn't notice. But I love you all the same, even if I didn't show it. Don't be angry at Ciel, saying he stole away my life. I did. It's my choice.
Love,
Elizabeth
She folded up the letter, and put it in her pocket. They would find it. She slowly picked up the bottle of poison, her muscles feeling like they were made of jelly. She lifted it to her lips, and -
Ciel looked around. So this is the afterlife. He was standing on a platform, with two doors in front of him. There was a reception desk in front of one door. A woman with white hair and purple eyes sat at it. She did not even look up as he stepped closer to her.
"Hello," he said.
"Welcome to Purgatory," the angel said in a dead monotone.
This angel was nothing like Angela/Ash. He sat down on a white couch. Did he mention the whole room was white? White tables, chairs, floors, walls, and ceilings. It made his eyes hurt.
So this was purgatory. He always thought it was a lot different. Church was mandatory, and he was forced to go every Sunday, though even entering the threshold gave him a killer headache. But the priest had a lot to say about purgatory, ranting until his face turned red and sweat ran down his face, on the torture that was purgatory. "Your worst day on Earth is a heaven compared to every day in Purgatory!" he would shout. Ciel had some pretty awful days in the world, and was not looking forward to it. But this, this was almost -
"Arrival," said the angel dully. He looked up at her. That couldn't mean that another person had died, could it?
A shimmering silver figure appeared in the room. It looked familiar. It couldn't be- She surely wouldn't be that stupid. Even Elizabeth wouldn't-
He fingered the blue ring made out of a flower on his thumb. She might have. The outline was becoming more and more solid. Golden ringlets framed a sad, beautiful face.
It was.
Ciel stood up quickly.
"Elizabeth!" he shouted.
"Ciel?" the voice was hesitant, quiet.
Ciel caught her as she fainted.
"Oh Lizzy. What happened to you?" he murmured.
